High Rank Responsibilities

High Ranks Check-In requirements
  • Responsibilities

    • HRs are requested to encourage activity within their Clans by pursuing plots and interactions with their Clan Members! This includes coming up with ideas for potential clan-wide plots.

    • HRs are also requested to help their Clan’s staff by reporting misconduct, and any major events that staff may have missed.

    • They are also required to check in Weekly in the #HR-Checkin Channel to ensure they are meeting the posting minimums.

      • Any HR is allowed to organize an official patrol through their Clan's announcement channel.

  • Requirements

    • All HRs are required to post within the roleplay 3 separate days a week. It can be just one post each day! If they cannot meet this requirement, our exemption request channel is always open. Reminder: Daily channel posts do not count towards this requirement

    • Leaders must RP with a Clanmate bi-weekly. Does not have to be a One-on-One thread, but must have direct interaction with said clanmate in some way.

      • They cannot repeat clanmates back to back in weeks, try to interact with someone new each time!

    • Deputies must arrange and participate in at least one patrol bi-weekly.

      • Organizing a patrol should consist of making an announcement in your Clan's announcement channel, collecting members to go on said patrol, and then executing said patrol.

    • Healers must RP a check-in with a Clanmate bi-weekly.

      • They cannot repeat clanmates back to back in weeks, try to interact with someone new each time!

        • They are also required to post in their Clan's announcement channel the current herbs that are needed for patrols to gather Bi-weekly.

          • This must be collabed with all healers, even just approval given for each healer to consider their requirements met!

    • Healer Apprentices must RP a training session with Healer bi-weekly. In the absence of a healer in the clan, they would instead be required to complete the responsibilities of a fully trained healer.

      • In order to graduate, a Healer apprentice must complete three healing trainings, three gathering trainings, and three trainings of other skills. They must be 20 moons old and must also receive approval from the Healer(s) of their Clans to be promoted.

      • If a cat becomes a MCA at 20+ moons they must have Great healing and must have completed 8 weeks or more of HR requirements to become a full Healer. These requirements would include:

        • 3 weeks with a Clanmate check-in

        • 2 weeks with posting an herb announcement

        • 3 weeks with a healing or gathering training.

        • If multiple of these things are done in a week, only one may count towards the graduation requirements. If the mentor(s) feel as though the apprentice is only doing the bare minimum or needs further evaluation, the time before graduating may be extended and the requirements for that extra time may be discussed.

What happens if requirements aren't met?

At first nothing! We all have a life outside of SOTC and we can not expect everyone to meet these requirements all the time- life has to come first. The exemption channel is there for those who know they won't be able to make the requirements for a given week. Please do not hesitate to request an exemption if you think you will need it- you can always retract your request if you find you've met the requirements for the week.

  • If an HR misses four check ins in a row a member of their staff will likely reach out to you and check in on you; you aren't in trouble nor will you be removed from your position! This check in is to make sure you are doing alright; and make sure you are still comfortable in your HR position. Please don't hesitate to bring up any concerns you have that may be making it hard to meet these requirements. We want to help make the experience of being a High rank in SOTC fun!

    • After eight missed check ins (including Exemptions) in a row a member of the HR's staff may reach out to the HR and discuss their position; this is not an assured removal of the position but it may be suggested. Two months without meeting requirements can cause some difficulties in clan for clan plots, workload among other HRs, and Clan activity.

What to expect as a High rank

All high rank cats can be in 2 non event threads at once! This is to promote interpersonal plots and non HR related threads for our hard working High ranks.

  • Leaders

    • Being a leader is a lot of responsibility, but it is also very rewarding. Leaders are one of the cornerstones of their clan. Being the cat every cat looks to when times get tough. When things need to be done. A lot comes down to what the leader of the clan decides, having the final say among the council of how things are handled. Plots shift around the leader and the council's responses to many planned, and unplanned situations. It's not all about the power though, being a leader also means caring for your clan deeply. A leader is the support that makes sure their clanmates are happy, healthy, and safe.

      • Leaders are the ones to hand out punishments when their clanmates break the code. Sometimes this means your clanmates will have some less than positive feelings about their leader.

        • Though this should never extend to OOC, nor should it change how the clan as a whole is still meant to respect and listen to their leader. Code breaking punishments are a way of clan life and clan cats would understand this, and often take the side of their leader on code breaking situations.

      • Leaders at times may have to interact with potentially triggering topics such as death, conflict, and other such situations. A leader is always allowed to reach out to staff to request distance from certain topics, if this is asked the situation may be handed down to the deputy or another member of the clans council who is more comfortable tackling the topic.

      • Leaders also are often the ones to make important announcements such as; making new apprentices, new warriors, hosting major clan holidays, and even running assessments for apprentices!

      • The responsibility of making gathering announcements often fall on the shoulders of the leader, though this can also be extended to the deputy as well! Gathering announcements often include things such as these, but are not limited to them. Leaders or deputies may chose to omit certain parts of announcements for their own reasons- and this is allowed!

        • New kit's being born

        • Deaths

        • New apprentices

        • New warriors

        • Cats retiring

        • Grievances that need to be aired with the other clans.

        • Any dangers that may have been spotted/dealt with over the last moon.

    • Leaders are also often brought into plot discussions with staff so they remain in the loop!

  • Deputies

    • Deputies are second in command to their leader, while not responsible for ceremonies and other such time heavy irp tasks they do have their roles to play as the one their clan looks to alongside their leader!

      • Deputies are expected to post patrols and maintain those lists/make sure they get out during that week or two week period. Patrols can go out weekly or bi weekly if the deputy sees fit.

      • If the leader and deputy agree; a deputy may take on the gathering announcements in their stead. As well as host any ceremonies or give out punishments.

      • Deputies also at times may have to interact with potentially triggering topics such as death, conflict, and other such situations. A deputy is always allowed to reach out to staff to request distance from certain topics, if this is asked the situation may be handed to another member of council, or a member of staff who is more comfortable tackling the topic.

  • Healers

    • Healers compose the rest of the council, working as a team to keep their clan healthy, to advise their Leader and Deputy, and to interpret any messages that StarClan may send. Being a part of the team isn’t just about patching up injuries or curing the sniffles, though that is a very important part of their job.

      • Healers are expected to check-up on their Clanmates every other week at the least, to make sure their clan is doing well and to maintain a relationship with them. These check-ups can be either entirely focused on helping out a cat with an injury / illness, or something as small as asking another cat about their health while out gathering herbs for the stores.

      • Along with that, healers must do one of the following every other week...

        • Heal a cat

        • Have a thread with a Clanmate checking in on their health or expressing a concern about their wellbeing

        • Organize an herb gathering patrol (may urge cats to gather a particular herb or not, personal participation not required)

        • Go on a healer-organised herb gathering patrol

        • Train an apprentice in any skill

        • Teach anyone about healing or gathering

      • The nature of being a Healer means a cat will be expected to heal their Clanmates, which can delve into triggering topics such as more in-depth descriptions of injuries, various symptoms across various illnesses, death, et cetera. If you need to take a step back from those at any point, it can be worked out with the rest of your team or staff.

      • When it comes to StarClan, things can get a little vague. Luckily we have the Healers’ meeting, which occurs every half moon, where the teams from all four clans meet at the Moonstone to speak and to potentially receive a dream. StarClan isn't known for their directness, but having everyone gathered to discuss can help to shed light on the situation…

  • Healer Apprentices

    • To become a Healer, you first start off as an apprentice! Healer apprentices have similar duties to those who have graduated, between patching up their Clanmates and being an earpiece for StarClan, though any more important decisions may be deferred to the senior Healers.

      • Training is an important part of being an apprentice, as a cat works towards graduating. You can find those (which differ depending on whether or not your character is 20+ moons) outlined above in the high rank check-in requirements section.

      • Healer apprentices are similarly exposed to things such as in-depth descriptions of injury, various symptoms across various illness, death, etcetera. While these come with the position, you can always speak with your team about stepping back from a specific situation or element of a plot line.
