Where do I start?
Our website is a bit information dense, so please take your time reading it over. You will not be expected to have memorized the whole site to be welcome here.

SOTC's Staff team is here to help! Please don't ever be afraid to reach out to us, we want to make sure everyone feels comfortable here at SOTC, our teams are divided by clan, with overarching 'leads' who help with all clans.

Map - This map shows the territories as a whole from a birds eye view! Labeled are the territories, and the border names!
Rules - This is the place to go to start familiarizing yourself with our rules and guidelines.
Roleplaying Guide - RP etiquette and general practices of how we roleplay here are outlined on this page.
Skills - SOTC has several different skills in which we utilize custom bot rolling commands, they may seem complicated but once you get a hands on experience with them they become far less intimidating!
Life Events- Cat's age up every two weeks here in SOTC, this guide will let you know what to expect at every stage of your cat's life. Including how mentors and apprentices work!
Character Creation - Here is an in depth guide to how to create and start your journey with your first character!

The clans
If you check out the drop down menus above, you can see more information about them. Their main page will hold information about their holidays, special ranks, their councils and so much more.
Below that are things like allegiances which is where all approved cats of that clan will show up! Prey piles which will show the clan's progress that week on if they will meet the prey requirements, and the place you will submit any caught prey for your clan! There is a similar page for Herbs, don't want to run out of those!

What can I do? What can staff do?
Please keep in mind this is NOT an all encompassing list, we can not hope to list everything that staff and members can do in its entirety. What has been added here is some of the most common misconceptions and confusions we've seen over the course of SOTC's life. If you think something should be clarified please let us know in #suggestions so we can add it to this ever growing list!
If you are unsure if you can do something or if you need staff to do so, PLEASE don't be afraid to head over to #ask-staff to clarify. We are always happy to help!
Staff can
-
Give extensions
-
Staff will end threads that have exceeded their time on borders if a member has not already. As well as threads that have timed out in clan territories if they are found, but largely closing threads is the responsibility of the members apart of those threads!
-
Give permission for skirmishes (in clan or cross clan)
-
Edit information on allegiances, apprentices backends, etc
-
Discipline members for breaking a rule, we have a set way we handle such things, please do not reprimand other players in our OOCs. If you are worried that an issue has not been addressed please seek out a staff member via the #ask-staff channel, asking for a private thread or DM to discuss an issue. Please do not say any player by name in this channel. Those matters should be discussed privately.
-
This does not include gentle reminders about our rolling systems or other SOTC mechanics a player might be confused by. Feel free to help out other players who may be struggling, or ping a buddy for your specific clan. Doing so can go a long way in helping out a confused clanmate! 💖
-
-
Start event threads for holidays, plot, etc. Must be discussed with your entire staff team.

-
Request an event thread for important moments in a cat's life by going to my clan's ask staff page and pinging my clan staff role. Note that staff have a right to say no to such requests!

What will happen to the characters I've adopted and made if I leave SOTC?
-
We are sorry to see you go! It's a valid concern, what will happen to your character, their design, and their story once you leave. Below is an outline of what can happen. Upon leaving SOTC if you haven't given staff notice of what you'd like to happen we will use our best judgement based on connections irp to figure out what happens to your character.
-
If you have drawn / have made a design for that character artistically, none of that art will be used by a new player unless you have specifically agreed to it!
-
If the design was made by another member of SOTC, and was an adoptable; with the designers permission the design may continue to be used for the new player of said adoptable.
-
-
If the character was an OC they may end up being NPC'd, killed off, or made to leave the clans. They will not be adopted back out unless you specifically give us permission to do so! If you request an OC be adopted out, but a clan's adoptable list is full staff may opt to have them leave, die, or become NPC's instead!
-
If an adoptable they will be readopted out unless the original adopt maker and all familial connections agree to have them die or leave. No name changes or design changes may be requested of an adoptable character if you leave, this is a character who is engrained in the plot and clan.
-
If you designed this character it won't be used, and the new player will be asked to redesign the character using the allegiance description, unless given express permission to use the design!
-
If you did not, only the art in which you made will not be used without your express permission. The new player will be allowed to use the design provided with the express permission of the designer.
-
-
If you leave SOTC and then come back later the characters you played before you left can not be brought back, this is because in the time you've left they could have been adopted out, died, or left. Backtracking to find this information and work them back into the narrative is hard. So you will be asked to start fresh with a new character. There may be an occasional exceptions to this rule, but it would be a case by case basis.
